Men’s Volleyball Rolls Past Purchase

Purchase, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's volleyball team (17-8) remained perfect in Skyline Conference play (6-0) when it picked up a 3-0 victory at SUNY Purchase (5-13, 3-5 Skyline) on Wednesday afternoon.

Leading the way for SJC was sophomore Will Flohr, who hit .471 and collected a game-high 10 kills. Sophomore Kyle Biggers (7 kills) was 66.7% effective on his attacks, and senior Michael Barfield dished out a game-best 18 assists.

Sophomore Paul Curaro posted game-high totals in digs (9) and service aces (5).

It was smooth sailing for the guests right from the outset, and before long it was a two-sets-to-none advantage in the wake of 25-11 and 25-10 victories in set one and set two, respectively.

Maintaining their momentum in the third, the Golden Eagles used a 7-0 mid-set run to go up 19-6 and springboard them to a match-clinching 25-9 win.

Having hit .441 in the contest, SJC put down 34 kills to Purchase's 13. Additionally, St. Joseph's held advantages in assists (30-12), aces (13-2) and blocks (4-0).

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, March 31 when they face St. Joseph's College (Brkln) and Sarah Lawrence College in a Skyline Conference tri-match. SJC's matches begin at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm up in Bronxville, NY.
