Men’s Volleyball Remains Perfect in Skyline Play with Sweep of Mt. St. Vincent

Riverdale, NY| Senior Tyler Jones dished out a game-best 37 assists as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's volleyball team extended its Skyline Conference unbeaten streak to nine games with a 3-0 victory at the College of Mount St. Vincent on Thursday evening.

The win sees the Golden Eagles (20-8) move to 9-0 in conference play with one regular season match to play this season. The second-place Dolphins (11-13) slip to 6-1 in Skyline action with the loss.

Jones provided distribution to middle blocker Kyle Biggers (.550 hitting %), who put down a game-high 13 kills. Sophomore outside hitters Paul Curaro and Will Flohr were credited with 10 and eight kills, respectively.

Junior libero Danny McNamara recorded a game-best 14 digs, and Flohr served up four aces.

Up 16-15 in the first set, SJC strung together six-straight points to take a commanding 22-15 lead before earning a 25-17 victory.

A bit tighter in the second, the Golden Eagles eventually held off the Dolphins for a 25-20 win before clinching the sweep in the third frame with a 25-12 dismissing.

In a match that saw the guests generate 39 kills to Mt. St. Vincent's 26, SJC hit .253 and limited the hosts to a .165 hitting percentage.

The Golden Eagles wrap up their 2018 regular season campaign in a rematch of Thursday evening's contest inside the Danzi Center on Sunday at 7:00 pm. A ceremony honoring the team's three graduating senior wills precede the action.
