Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's volleyball opens its 2021 campaign Wednesday evening becoming the first SJCLI team to see action after a COVID-19 halted 2020 season.

Head coach Bill Kropp brings a completely new look to the 2021 season after graduating seven Golden Eagles including four of the founding members. Reigning Skyline Player of the Year Matt Cole along with All-Conference players Kyle Biggers, Paul Curaro, and Will Flohr all saw their careers cut short due to the pandemic.

SJC posted a 12-7 overall record in 2020 and began Skyline play with a 2-1 mark.

The Returners: Kropp returns 10 players from 2020 including graduate student David Slager. The right-side hitter racked up 52 kills with 92 digs and was second on the squad with 12 service aces.

Senior Jack Solen comes back for his final year after an injury sidelined the outside hitter when the 2020 season ended. In just eight matches, Solen recorded 55 kills and 41 digs.  Senior libero Michael Bosco will be patrolling the back row for the Golden Eagles after scooping up 52 digs last year.

Also returning this season are Jason Siriban, Thomas Renick, Pat Stevenson, Dylan Jacoby, William Loeven, Matthew Dolan, and Michael Lane.

The Newcomers: Four newcomers join the SJC ranks with former Sachem North HS teammates Clint (C.J.) Johnson and Mark Williams ready to make an immediate impact. Johnson is will guide the offense as setter and Williams on the outside. Junior transfer Quinn Foglia and freshman Anthony Vicari will seek time in the middle and the outside, respectively.

Expectations: Kropp believes the Golden Eagles have the talent and experience to win their third conference title and pick up where they left off in 2020.

When they begin: SJC opens the season on March 10 when they visit Yeshiva University at 8:00 pm. The Golden Eagles return to the Danzi Center for their opener on Sunday, March 14 against the Maccabees at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.
