Men's Volleyball Falls Short in Five-Set Skyline Final

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College men's volleyball team's season came to an end following a five-set thriller at the hands of New Jersey City University in the Skyline Conference Championship Finals on Saturday afternoon.

SJC ends the season at 7-1 as NJCU advances to the NCAA Championships at 7-3.

The Golden Eagles lead early with a 25-20 win in the first set, but the visitors came back and took sets two and three with 26-24 and 25-22 wins, respectively. SJC stayed alive with a 25-23 win in the fourth set pushing the match to a divisive fifth set where the two teams need extra points, 16-14, to determine a winner and the match ultimately went in favor of the Gothic Knights.

Freshman Mark Williams led the Golden Eagles with a career-high 22 kills and 15 digs.

Senior Jason Siriban also with a career-best finished with 15 kills along with 10 digs and assisted on five blocks. Senior David Slager rounded out the top scorers with 14 kills and 13 digs.

Freshman setter Clint Johnson dished a career-best 54 assists.

Jonathan Andrews led the Gothic Knights with a match-best 26 kills en route to being named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.

Hanel Collado pitched in with 12 kills with Brandon Dasilva and James Bajor pitching in with 11 kills apiece.

Setter Leo Ferrari tossed a match-high 60 assists with libero Richard Valentin picking up 16 digs.
