Men's Volleyball Takes Down NJCU, 3-0

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's volleyball team secured a 3-0 Skyline Conference victory over New Jersey City University inside the Danzi Athletic Center on Thursday evening.

The Golden Eagles improve to 4-0 (4-0 Skyline) on the season as the Gothic Knights slide to 4-3 (4-1 Skyline).

SJC grabbed an early match lead with a 25-11 win in set one.  Set two saw the Golden Eagles trailing, 20-19, but the home team would go on to earn five of the next six points to edge NJCU 25-20. Neither side led by more than two points in the final frame until a crucial kill from senior Jason Siriban sparked a 5-0 run late in the set lifting the Golden Eagles to a 25-20 victory.

Freshman Mark Williams led all players with 12 kills while providing a team-best eight digs. Junior Quinn Foglia finished with seven kills and assisted on three blocks.

Freshman setter Clint Johnson dished a match-high 29 assists with four kills and two assisted blocks.

James Bajor led the Gothic Knights with eight kills while recording eight digs. Setter Leo Ferrari tossed 26 assists with libero Richard Valentin finishing with nine digs.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, March 27 when they travel to Sarah Lawrence. Game times are set for 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.
