Maurice, MacDonell and Haun Claim ECAC Weekly Honors

Danbury, Conn.| The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association (ECAC) released its list of weekly award winners on Wednesday afternoon, and amongst the honored were senior Samantha Maurice, sophomore Erin MacDonell and freshman Ryan Haun of the St. Joseph's College cross country teams.

Maurice, who was selected as Division III Metro Region Runner of the Week, posted a 20:36.3 5k time at the Skyline Conference Championships on Sunday and was crowned individual champion following her first-place finish. A two-time Skyline Runner of the Week this season, Maurice earned All-Conference First-Team honors for the second time in her career and powered the Golden Eagles to their sixth-straight conference championship and their ninth in the last 10 years.

Finishing in third in the 5k event on Sunday was MacDonell, who posted her second-best time of the season at 21:05.7 and was named Metro Region Rookie of the Week for the third time this season. The conference First-Team selection was honored as the Skyline Rookie of the Year and claimed conference Rookie of the Week honors on four occasions.

Also claiming Metro Region Rookie of the Week honors was Haun, who finished first in Sunday's 8k event with a time of 28:45.5 to claim the conference's male individual championship. In addition to appearing on the Skyline First-Team as a freshman, Haun collected three regional Rookie of the Week honors and five Skyline weekly honors as top newcomer.

St. Joseph's cross country returns to action on November 7, when they participate in the ECAC Championships at Mt. Greylock High School in Williamstown, MA.
