Purchase, NY| Entering her first season with the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's basketball team, newly-minted head coach Vicki Andruszkiewicz will be tasked with rebuilding a program in search of a new identity.

In 2017-18, the Golden Eagles posted a 9-16 overall record and a 6-12 mark in Skyline Conference play but graduated the program's all-time leading scorer, Andrea Iavarone, who totaled 1,510 career points and was named 2018 Skyline Conference Player of the Year.

In search of the team's first playoff berth since 2011-12, the program pivots to a group of veterans and newcomers alike to fill Iavarone's void.

The Returners: SJC lost its top-three scorers from a year ago but welcomes N'Dea Maddox and Alicia Indence back for their season years. Maddox averaged 7.1 points-per-game in 2017-18 and led the team with 4.0 assists-per-game. Indence pitched in with 6.7 points- and 3.1 assists-per-game.

Junior Juliana Cintron-Leonardo averaged career-bests with 5.8 points-per-game and 7.2 rebounds-per-game and will be a force in the low post. Junior Laura Falacara and sophomore Lindsey McKenna fill out SJC's returning contingent of five.

The New Comers: Freshman guard Alyssa Signor of Farmingville, NY will be expected to produce from the get-go and should prove to be an offensive threat. At 5-9, the Sachem East alum adds versatility to the backcourt.

Freshmen Claudia Pellegrino (5-7) and Katie Keese (5-8), and juniors Cailee Greco (5-9) and Jenna Short (5-7) enter the fray and instantly make St. Joseph's a bigger squad.

Expectations: Despite not qualifying for the Skyline Conference Championship since 2011-12, the Golden Eagles will vie for a berth in 2018-19 and believe they have the depth and talent to do so.

The results of the Skyline Conference Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll, released on November 7, predicted the Golden Eagles finish in eighth place—two spots outside of the conference playoff picture.
