Women's Basketball Falls Short Against USMMA

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's basketball team suffered a 58-37 Skyline Conference defeat at the hands of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Thursday evening at the Danzi Center.

The Golden Eagles move to 2-12 on the season and 1-7 in conference action. The Mariners remain unbeaten at 11-0, 7-0 Skyline.

Senior N'Dea Maddox provided a team-best 13 points for the Golden Eagles with five steals and three rebounds. Freshman Alyssa Signor finished with nine points and junior Cailee Greco provided six points off the bench with four boards.

The Mariners were led by Kaleigh D'Arcy with 19 points on 6-for-14 shooting from the field and six rebounds. Lauren Hunter was a fore down low with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Taylor Hightower finished with nine points, seven rebounds, and five blocks.

USMMA shot 40.0% from the field while holding SJC to just 22.6%. The visitors also held a 36.4% to 9.1% advantage from three-point range and a slight 28-22 margin in the paint.

The Golden Eagles return to the Danzi Center when they host Farmingdale St. on Saturday, January 12 at 1:00 pm.
