Women’s Swimming Surges Past SJC-Brooklyn, New Rochelle

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team collected 109-63 and 104-75 victories over St. Joseph's (Brkln) and the College of New Rochelle, respectively, in a double-duel inside the Danzi Center on Saturday afternoon.

SJC opened the meet with a photo-finish victory in the 200 yard medley relay as Aileen Baker, Kim Mazza, Gabrielle Zollo and Sam Mullman narrowly defeated SJC-Brooklyn by nearly two tenths of a second (2:09.02).

Mazza would go on to comfortably win the 1000 yard freestyle relay in the following event with a time of 12:48.84.

Baker and Mullman would follow suit with first-place finishes in the 200 yard freestyle (2:16.09) and the 50 yard freestyle (26:96), respectively, and even further along the trio would earn additional first-place finishes in the 200 yard IM (Mazza), the 100 yard free (Mullman) and the 100 yard backstroke (Baker).

Marissa Palmeri finished first in the 500 yard freestyle (6:30.96) and, in the final event, played a part in SJC's 200 yard freestyle relay victory along with Corinne Araneo, Kayleigh Aiello and Julianne Garvey (2:10.99).

The Golden Eagles return to the pool on Friday, November 18 when they head to SUNY Maritime to face the Privateers and Sarah Lawrence in a Skyline Conference double-duel. Full post-meet recap will be available here at sjcgoldeneagles.com.
