Wersan Qaulifies for ECAC's as Track Team Competes at Wesleyan #2

Middletown, Conn. - The men's and women's track & field team continued their 2014 campaign returning to Wesleyan University for the Wesleyan Invitational #2 and both teams placed in nearly every event.

Brittany Guttieri and Brian Wersan won the 1000m and 800m, respectively,  with Wersan's 1:5833 time qualifying for the ECAC Championships in March.

Wersan raced an impressive 800m staying on the shoulder of first place for the first three laps, and kicked in the last lap to a first place finish and the men's first indoor ECAC qualifier since 2012.

AnnMarie Zigrosser (5000m), Caitlyn Ryan (3000m), Ashley Arquer (Long Jump), Ian Sullivan (60HH), Mario Mayen (600m) and John Suchopar (3000m) all placed second.  Arquer was also able to place 5th in the 60m and 4th in the 200m.

The race of the day was Zigrosser's 5000m which led off the meet.  Leading the race up to the last lap she continuously surged ahead of her Wesleyan counterpart trying to bridge a gap, but each time was caught again and was finally overtaken in the last lap.

Both teams will travel to East Stroudsburg University for the DeSchriver Invitational on February 2.
