Senecal Breaks Career Digs Record in Non-Conference Split

Patchogue, NY| Senior libero Danielle Senecal became St. Joseph's College's record holder for career digs in a 3-0 win over the College of Staten Island in game three of the SJC Invitational Tournament. The Golden Eagles fell in the nightcap 3-1 to Ramapo College.

Senecal leaps head of Courtney Wickline who set the record of 1072 digs in 2016 and now sits at 1116.

Senecal needed just one dig to claim sole possession of the record, which came early in a 25-21 win in the opening frame. The Golden Eagles went on the complete the sweep with 25-21 and 25-22 wins in sets two and three, respectively.

Sophomore Jessica Young led all players with 10 kills while hitting at a .350 clip. Sophomore setter Brionna Silva was credited with 30 assists and Senecal finished with 13 digs.

Jay-La Guy led the Dolphins with eight kills and a .400 hitting percentage. Setter Arianna Spears dished 21 assists and Alexandra Boachie-Ansah scooped up 14 digs.

SCJ 1 Ramapo 3

Following a two-match break, St. Joseph's came out and took set one 27-25 over the Roadrunners. Ramapo answered back with a quick 25-12 win in the second set to even the match at one. Both sets three and four would go back and forth, but the visiting Roadrunners came out victorious with 25-23 and 25-22 wins.

Four Golden Eagles finished with double-digit kills with Young recording a team-high 13. Kaitlin Williams and Danielle Silkin pitched in with 11 kills apiece with Williams collecting 16 digs for a double-double. Kristen Bohnenblusch posted a double-double of her own with 10 kills and 11 digs. Silva tossed 43 assists with Senecal picking up 31 digs.

Morgan Ridgway led Ramapo with 15 kills and Hannah Francella added 12. Setter Sara Correa had 32 assists with libero Kristina Semple finishing with 35 digs.

The Golden Eagles return to the Danzi Center on Tuesday, October 9 when they host Purchase College on Senior Night. Game time is slated for 7:00 pm.
