Women's Volleyball Settles for Non-Conference Split

Camden, NJ| The St. Joseph's College women's volleyball team earned a non-conference split Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles opened the day with a 3-0 sweep of Gwynedd Mercy in match one before dropping match two 3-1 to Rutgers-Camden.

The Golden Eagles made quick work of the Griffons in the first match of the afternoon with 25-18, 25-17 and 25-16 wins in straight sets.

Freshman Amanda Goldstein led the Golden Eagles with 12 kills and a .476 hitting percentage. Junior Danielle Silkin recorded double-digit kills with 10 while hitting at a .364 clip. Setter Brionna Silva had a double-double of 16 assists and 10 digs. Libero Danielle Senecal led all players with 20 digs.

Cassie McCarney led Gwynedd Mercy with six kills on the day. Bridget McTamney tossed 19 assists with Cait Saalfrank and Madelyn Mosser finishing with 17 and 15 digs, respectively.

RUC 3 SJC 1

In the second match of the day, SJC and hosts Rutgers-Camden traded sets early on, 22-25 and 25-19, before the Raptors took 25-20 and 25-13 wins in sets three and four.

Sophomore Jessica Young had a team-high 11 kills and four total blocks with senior Kristen Bohnenblusch pitching in with nine. Setter Toni Parente dished 30 assists with Kaitlin Williams scooping 18 digs.

Morgan Mulligan led the Raptors with a double-double of 13 kills and 10 digs. Sister Jamie Mulligan also recorded 13 kills with Mylah Gatling adding 11. Setters Brinn Hassan and Kayla Benesz recorded 21 and 14 assists, respectively. Haley Novak finished with 12 digs.

The Golden Eagles return to the Danzi Center on Sunday, October 14 when they host SUNY Old Westbury and Maritime. SJC face the Panthers at 10:00 am before taking on the Privateers at 2:00 pm.
