Laurent Collects Skyline Co-Player of the Week Honors

New York, NY| The Skyline Conference released its weekly awards Monday afternoon, and amongst the winners was junior Andy Laurent, who was named Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week for the second time this season. In addition sophomore Andrea Iavarone of the women's basketball appeared on the conference's Weekly Honor Roll.

Andy Laurent (Jr.) – Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week

In a week that saw Laurent tally his 1,000th career point and record his second double-double of the season, the guard averaged team-highs in points (20.7), rebounds (9.0) and assists (4.0) through three games. The Amityville, NY native became the 12th player in St. Joseph's history to score 1,000 career points in a win over St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) on Thursday, January 7 when he tallied a game-best 28 points and a career-high 17 rebounds. Laurent would go for 20 points, six assists and five rebounds in a victory over first-place Sage on Saturday, January 9. The current leading scorer in the Skyline Conference, Laurent is averaging 21.7 points-per-game and ranks in the top 10 in assists (4.3/game) and steals (1.8/game). He also leads the Golden Eagles in rebounds-per-game (6.7).

Andrea Iavarone (So.) – Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll

In three games last week, Iavarone averaged 14 points- and 10.3 rebounds-per-game with her best performance coming in a loss to the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Monday, January 4 when she tallied 16 points and 12 rebounds.  The Miller Place, NY native would post her ninth double-double of the season in a defeat to St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) on Thursday, January 7 with a 14 point/12 rebound performance. Iavarone is currently first in the conference in rebounds (12.4/game) and second in scoring (18.7/game).
