Bronxville, NY| Behind a career-best 22 points by Isaiah Moore, the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team picked up a 62-53 victory over Skyline Conference foe Sarah Lawrence College on the road on Monday evening. With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 6-10 (5-6) on the year while the Gryphons fall to 3-13 (1-11).

After falling behind 5-2 early in the first half, St. Joseph's used a 8-0 run to pull ahead 10-5 5:33 into the frame following a pair of Andy Laurent free throws. After some back and forth action the Gryphons would tie the game at 13 after Malin Segal drained a jumper with 8:50 to play in the first.

Up 18-16 at 5:51, the Golden Eagles surrendered the next five points before building an 8-2 run to pull ahead 26-23 with under a minute to play in the half. Sarah Lawrence's Parker Hagmaier would record the final points before the break as the Golden Eagles carried a one-point (26-25) lead into halftime.

SLC grabbed the second half's first four points to put the hosts up three (29-26) at 18:29, but St. Joseph's responded with a 16-3 run—capped off by four-straight free throws by Moore—to go up 42-32 at 12:08.

Junior Fernando Vazquez drained a three-ball at 6:36 to give SJC an eight-point lead (50-42), but the guests responded with 11 of the next 16 points to pull the game back to within two points (55-53) with 1:11 remaining in regulation. Laurent finished off a layup with 43 seconds to play, and from there out the Gryphons were forced to foul the Golden Eagles, who sank their free throws and eventually earned the 62-53 win.

Moore's 22 points (7-13 FG) were not only a career-best but a game-best. The only other St. Joseph's player to score double-digit points was Laurent, who potted 10 and grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.

In a game that saw both sides struggle from the field, St. Joe's edged the Gryphons in overall shooting (37%-30.4%) and three-point shooting (23.5%-20.8%). SJC also generated more turnovers (16-11).

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, January 23 when they travel to the Bronx to face SUNY Maritime in a Skyline Conference showdown. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM. Live stats will be available here.
