Men’s Lacrosse Edged by Farmingdale on Tuesday

Farmingdale, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's lacrosse team was edged by Farmingdale State in a Skyline Conference thriller in Farmingdale on Tuesday evening.

The loss sends the Golden Eagles to 3-6 overall on the year and 0-1 in Skyline play as the Rams improve to 7-3 (1-0 Skyline).

Sophomore Mike McCarthy paced an SJC offense that generated 37 shots with a game-high five points on three goals and two assists.

Freshman Anthony Passarella scored twice on four shots and graduate student Max Chin contributed one goal and one helper.

Sophomore Jesse McKeever scooped up a game-high nine ground balls and junior Declan Canevari won 16 of 18 faceoffs.

Freshman goaltender Andrew Brust (1-4) made 13 saves.

SJC turned a 2-1 first quarter deficit into a 4-3 halftime lead when Chin tallied midway through the second quarter. The guests would later go up 6-4 in the third when freshman Tim McCann scored at 4:43.

Farmingdale rallied for three goals to SJC's one in the final minutes of the third and eventually took the lead with 1:46 to go in regulation (9-8). The Golden Eagles failed to registered a game-tying tally in the closing seconds and took their first Skyline loss of the year.

SJC was dominant on faceoffs, winning 19 of 21 in total. The guests also scooped up more ground balls (30-23) than the Rams.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, April 6 when they visit the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy for a Skyline Conference contest at 12:00 pm.
