Men’s and Women’s Tennis Fall to Brooklyn

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's and women's tennis teams were defeated, 7-2 and 8-1, respectively, by their Brooklyn College counterparts in non-conference contests at the SJC Outdoor Field Complex on Saturday afternoon.

The loss sends the men to 3-6 overall on the year and the Skyline Conference champion women to 10-4.

Brooklyn 7, SJC Men 2

After dropping first and second doubles to Brooklyn, SJC salvaged a doubles point when sophomore Dylan Trude and junior Damian Duda posted an 8-2 victory at third doubles.

Senior Kyle Conway was defeated 8-0 at second singles but freshman Vincent Spano brought the match back to within one (3-2) shortly after with an 8-6 win at sixth singles.

From there, Brooklyn won out and clinched the 7-2 win.

Brooklyn 8, SJC Women 1

Brooklyn swept the doubles matches but all there were tight affairs. Amanda Post and Nora Burnett at second doubles and Erin Hickey and Alexandra Suslan at third doubles both dropped 8-6 decisions.

Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year Taylor Hanscom picked up SJC's only win of the afternoon when she picked-up a third singles win by default.

The men's tennis team returns to action on Sunday, April 14 when they host Yeshiva University for a Skyline Conference contest at 12:00 pm. The women await their NCAA Tournament fate.
