Softball Splits with FDU-Florham in Non-Conference

Patchogue, N.Y. – St. Joseph's (12-9) and FDU-Florham (6-10) split a non-conference softball doubleheader on Wednesday.  FDU took the first game 8-6 in extra innings and SJC bounced back to win game two 6-5 on a walk-off single by Casey Thomas.

Game 2 – SJC 6, FDU 5

FDU struck for three in the first courtesy of an SJC error and unearned run and then added a two-run triple.  Julianne Tierney answered back big time in the bottom of the first with a three run homer to left center to tie it 3-3.  She added another RBI in the fifth as she singled home Lindsey Corriss who reached on an error to put the Golden Eagles up a run, 4-3.  Cheyenne Raimondi scored on a passed ball to make it 5-3.  An RBI triple by FDU and a sacrifice fly drew them even in the top of the seventh.  SJC scored the winning run in the seventh as a walk by McClafferty, a Reda single, a passed ball and an RBI single by Thomas sealed it in walk off fashion.

Buturla (4-5) picked up the game two win by going seven, giving up two earned runs and striking out six.
