Softball Ends 2015 Season by Declawing SJC-Brooklyn Bears

Jamaica, N.Y. - St. Joseph's-Long Island (18-18) took two games from the St. Joseph's-Brooklyn Bears (20-16) in their final games of the 2015 season, 6-4 and 8-0. 

In game one, the Golden Eagles Melanie Boccio went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double and Kristen Arbiter was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a triple.  The Golden Eagles scored two runs in the sixth on Arbiter's triple.   They scored four in the seventh on a two-run Megan Leun single and a Brooklyn error resulted in two more.

LI's Mallory McClafferty (7-6) picked up the win in relief with two innings pitched.  Also seeing action in the circle for the Golden Eagles were starter Ashley Blydenburgh (2.2 IP, 2 ER, 6 H, 3 K), Katelyn DeVinney (1/3 IP, 2 ER, 3 H) and Lauren Buturla (1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 K).

In game two, LI's Sandra Foster (2-2) pitched a six-inning complete game four-hitter, walking two and striking out 14 Bears.

Gianna Gulli was 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, a triple and a walk.  Katelyn DeVinny was 1-for-2 with three RBI.

The Golden Eagles scored two in the top of the second on a DeVinny single.  A Gulli base hit, and fielder's choices from DeVinny and Boccio, resulted in three in the fourth.  Gulli's triple in the fifth brought in Buturla and Gulli reached home on a wild pitch for a 7-0 lead.  Gabrielle Cinquemani hit an RBI double in the top of the sixth to bring in Lindsey Corriss who had tripled in the prior at bat.
