Patchogue, NY| In her second season at the helm, head coach Lisa Jusino will lead the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) softball team for the 2017 season, which opens at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, FL on March 8.

After falling to Farmingdale State, 10-9, in the first round of the Skyline Conference Championship last season, Jusino graduated three seniors: Skyline First-Team (UTL) and Second-Team (P) selection Mallory McClafferty, and First-Team selections Lindsey Corriss (OF) and Megan Leun (1B).

In 2017 Jusino will lean on 2016 First-Team honoree and team captain Gabrielle Cinquemani (Sr., 3B) who hit .355 last season and collected 30 RBI's and a team-best eight homers.

Other key returners include former Skyline Rookie of the Week Jillian McFadzen (So., UTL), middle infielder Elizabeth Rohme (So.) and hurler Lauren Buturla (Jr.), who posted a 6-5 record last year.

Highlighting the newcomers are Dowling College transfers Theresa Cardello (Sr., P) and Ashley Steponaitis (Sr., 1B). They pair are joined by Valerie Scura (Jr., OF) and Samantha Magerovich (Jr., 1B), who both arrive from Suffolk County Community College.

Back on February 21 the Skyline Conference released the results of its Preseason Coaches Poll, which saw the Golden Eagles finish fourth out of 10 teams.
