Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) softball team defeated sister school St. Joseph's College (Brkln) in both games of a Skyline Conference doubleheader, 1-0 and 8-1, at home on Thursday evening.
The wins see the Golden Eagles improve to 17-15 on the season and 12-4 in conference play and move them into a tie with The Sage Colleges for second place in the Skyline standings.
The Bears, meanwhile, slip to 14-12 on the year and remain in seventh place with a 4-10 conference mark.

In a game that produced a total of 10 hits, both teams were forced to wait until the bottom of the 10th inning for the game's first and only run. In walk-off fashion, SJC's Valerie Scura (1-for-3) scored Jillian McFadzen (0-for-3) with an RBI double to left to sink the Bears in game one.
Theresa Cardello (9-4) pitched all 10 innings for the Golden Eagles and struck out four batters for the complete-game shutout.
Brooklyn's Victoria Mahoney (9-6) recorded 14 strikeouts and took the loss for the guests but remains in first place in the conference in earned run average (1.73).

The hosts would explode for four runs in the bottom of the first in the evening's second game, a surge that began with Ashley Steponaitis' (1-for-2) RBI single to left field that scored Elizabeth Rohme (0-for-4) and ended with McFadzen's (1-for-2) fielder's choice that sent Steponaitis and Lyndsay Smocer (1-for-4).
Gabrielle Cinquemani's (2-for-3) RBI double and McFadzen's RBI single in the bottom of the fourth extended SJC's lead to six runs (6-0) before Brooklyn brought one back in the top of the fifth when Paige Csikortos scored on an SJC error.
RBI doubles by Cinquemani and Elise Grau (2-for-2) wrapped the evening's scoring as the Golden Eagles cruised to an 8-1 victory.
Lauren Buturla (4-6) allowed zero earned runs and struck out four batters to pick up the complete-game win SJC.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, April 29 when they host SUNY Purchase for Senior Day at 11:00 am. Live stats for both games of the doubleheader will be available here.
