Lady Eagles Fly Circles Around York Cardinals

Brooklyn, N.Y. — The Lady Golden Eagles (3-1) drubbed the York College Cardinals (1-3) on Tuesday, effectively shutting down their offense and breaking down their defense to come away with an 8-0 blowout.  The unselfish team produced its eight goals from seven different players making the win a true team effort.

Emily Garcia (Central Islip, N.Y./ St. John the Baptist) kicked off the game with a goal ten minutes into the first half off of a loose ball in the goalie box.  Only minutes later Jaclyn Baratelli (Hauppauge, N.Y./ Hauppauge) and Kathryn Condron (Ridge, N.Y./ Longwood) found themselves in a 2-on -1 breakaway, with Baratelli ultimately finding the back of the net, establishing an early Eagle lead of 2-0. SJC scored four more goals before the halftime buzzer sounded off the feet of Lauren Heschl (Medford, N.Y./ St. John the Baptist), Jaclyn Hughes (Holbrook, N.Y./ Sachem North), Condron and Cristiana Votta (East Islip, N.Y./ East Islip).

Gina Guardino (Lindenhurst, N.Y./ Lindenhurst) put the seventh tally on the board for the Eagles as Hughes put the nail in York's coffin with a header into the net at 67:59.  Condron proved to be the playmaker of the game with three assists, in addition to her goal, while Guardino and Heather Nolan (Selden, N.Y./ Newfield) tallied an assist each.
