Women's Swimming Opens Season at Sarah Lawrence Spring Carnival

Bronxville, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team opened its 2019-20 season at the Sarah Lawrence Spring Carnival on Saturday afternoon and placed third in a field of eight competing teams. 

SJC totaled 132.5 points, 16.5 fewer than second-place Mount St. Mary (149) and 87.5 fewer than first-place Hunter College (220). 

Highlights on the afternoon included Juliana Kohlus' second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (1:07.51). Meghan Skakandi took third place in her first collegiate event, the 200 yard IM, with a time of 2:30.34.

Kohlus would go on to turn in her second second-place finish of the meet with a 2:16.57 in the 200-yard freestyle while Skakandi secured SJC's only first-place finish when she touched the wall first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.50).

SJC's Bella Peralta, Emma Martin, Kohlus and Skakandi wrapped the afternoon with a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:57.60).

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, November 2 when they host Purchase College and SUNY Old Westbury for a Skyline Conference double-duel at 1:00 pm.
