Women’s Swimming Places Third at Skyline Championships

Purchase, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team placed third out of seven competing teams at the 2020 Skyline Conference Swimming Championships at SUNY Purchase on Saturday and Sunday.

SJC totaled 183 points and finished 23 points behind second-place Mount St. Mary. Champion USMMA collected 737 total points. 

The Golden Eagles opened the weekend with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay when Marisa Tutone, Meghan Skakandi, Juliana Kohlus and Samantha Mullman posted a program-best time of 1:57.74.

Skakandi went on to earn Skyline All-Conference Second-Team honors when she finished in second place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a new program-record time of 1:12.02.

The freshman also took fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke with another program-record time of 2:38.70.

Kohlus was a fourth-place finisher in the 100-yard butterfly (1:06.53) and was a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay team, along with Tutone, Skakandi and Mullman, that earned Skyline All-Conference Second-Team honors with a program-record time of 3:58.77.
