Women's Swimming Competes at ECAC Championships

East Meadow, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team competed at the 2019 ECAC Swimming Championships Friday through Sunday at the Nassau County Aquatic Center and turned in a 12th-place finish--second-best among Skyline Conference competition.

Freshman Meghan Skakandi had an outstanding weekend for the Golden Eagles having broken the school record in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:44.34.She placed 31st in a field of 41 in the event.

Skakandi went on to post the program's second-best time in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.39), just .05 seconds off the existing school record and good for a 29th-place finish.

Elsewhere, sophomore Julianna Kohlus swam the 100-yard butterfly in 1:09.5 and was a member of the 400-yard medley relay team--along with Bella Peralta, Emma Martin and Skakandi--that turned posted a time of 4:45.93.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, January 4 when they host St. Joseph's (Brkln) for a Skyline Conference meet inside the Danzi Center pool at 1:00 pm.
