Women's Swimming Takes Two in Skyline Meet

Throggs Neck, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team picked up a pair of victories over Skyline Conference rivals Sarah Lawrence (86-70) and SUNY Maritime (95-86) on the campus of the Privateers on Friday evening.

The wins ensure the Golden Eagles stay perfect on the year and move to 4-0 in Skyline Conference action in 2019-20.

Freshman Meghan Skakandi posted SJC's first first-place finish of the evening when she took the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle (12:04.30). Junior Jordyn Cummings took second (14:23.21) in the same event.

Sophomore Breanna Daly (1:24.34) and junior Bella Peralta (1:29.76) finished 1-2 in the 100-yard backstroke and Skakandi (1:14.69) would collect her second first-place finish of the meet in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing nearly 12 seconds quicker than the second-place finisher.

SJC wrapped the afternoon with a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Peralta, Skakandi, and sophomores Emma Martin and Julianna Kohlus posted a time of 1:56.68.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday, November 20 when they participate in a Skyline Conference double-duel at the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
