Basile Included in MBWA's Weekly Honorable Mention
New York, NY| Junior Frank Basile of the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team earned his second weekly honor in as many days on Tuesday afternoon when he was included in the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association's Divisions II-III Weekly Honorable Mention.
One day after claiming Skyline Conference Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career, Basile takes home MBWA accolades for the fourth time this season.
The guard averaged 21.0 points- and 8.0 rebounds-per-game in a 1-1 week for the Golden Eagles which was highlighted by a 24-point, nine-rebound performance in an 82-67 win at SUNY Maritime on January 22. The Islip, NY native capped off the week with a game-high 18 points in a home loss to Yeshiva on January 27.
Before play on Tuesday, Basile led the Golden Eagles in scoring (20.2 PPG) and rebounding (9.6 RPG) and ranked second and fifth in the conference in the same categories, respectively.
Basile and the Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday night when they visit the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy for a Skyline Conference contest at 7:30 pm.
