Men’s Basketball Ends Skid with Victory over SJC-Brooklyn

Brooklyn, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team picked up its first Skyline Conference victory of the season on Saturday afternoon when it defeated St. Joseph's College (Brkln), 68-64.

The win is SJC's first since January 4 and brings them to 6-16 overall on the year.

Leading the way for the Golden Eagles was senior Doug Niblock, who scored a game-high 20 points on 8-for-14 shooting from the field. The guard was also credited with five assists.

Sophomore Michael Darby shot 7-for-15 from the field and tallied 18 points, while seniors Jonah Caldwell and Frank Basile went for 12 points apiece. Caldwell also pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds to complete a double-double.

Pacing the Bears was Chris Mikos, who went for 20 points on 9-for-12 shooting from the field.

The Golden Eagles led the entire game and by as many as 16 points. After taking a 32-25 lead into the break, SJC was outscored 39-36 in the second half but held on for the four-point win. 

St. Joseph's shot 49.1% from the field and 36.7% from three. Brooklyn held a 48-30 edge in points in the paint but shot a woeful 13.3% from beyond the arc.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday, February 18 when they host Farmingdale State for Senior Night at 7:30 pm.
