Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's lacrosse team was handed a 16-2 loss at the hands of eight-time defending Skyline Conference champion Montclair State at Danzi Stadium on Tuesday evening.

With the loss the Golden Eagles slide to 4-5 (1-4 Skyline) on the year as the Red Hawks move to 4-6 (4-0 Skyline) with their fourth-straight victory.

Montclair jumped out an early lead with two tallies inside the opening three minutes of the game, but SJC's Josh Shaw brought one back for the hosts (2-1) at 11:49.

After Montclair's Matt Haemmerle (4 goals, 4 assists) re-established the guests' two-goal lead at 11:29, Brandon Riley again cut the deficit to one (3-2) at 8:50, but a 9-0 run by the Red Hawks ensured SJC's deficit at halftime was 10 goals (12-2).

Montclair would add four second-half goals en route to a convincing 16-2 victory.

Keeper Andrew Yoli made nine saves and allowed 15 goals, and Jared Velez was credited with two saves in 6:21 of action.

Montclair outshot SJC by a 43-17 margin and dominated on faceoffs (20-2) and ground balls (40-18).

The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, April 7 when they hit the road to face SUNY Purchase in a Skyline Conference showdown at 7:00 pm.
