Men's Soccer Clinches Skyline Berth With 1-0 Shutout of Maritime

Patchogue, N.Y. - The Golden Eagles (8-12, 5-4 Skyline) men's soccer team clinched a spot in the Skyline Conference Tournament after defeating the Maritime Privateers (8-7-1, 4-3-1 Skyline), 1-0, in SJC's last regular season game.  The victory advanced the team into third place in the Skyline standings with conference play scheduled to conclude for all teams this week.

The first and only goal of the contest came at the 7:34 mark when senior co-captain Alex Guadagno out jumped his defenders and headed in Chris Hall's corner kick.

The rest of the game was dominated by St. Joseph's defense, which took control of the Privateers offense by allowing only six shots on goal through 90 minutes.

The Golden Eagles were able to outshoot Maritime 16-7 on the afternoon and SJC's goalkeeper Avery Gomez tallied his sixth shutout of the season.

Throughout St. Joseph's College twenty games, the team has accumulated 28 goals, 21 assists, and 118 saves.

The Golden Eagles will ride their two game winning-streak momentum into the playoffs against a Skyline opponent to be determined.
