Men’s Soccer Falls to Farmingdale at Home on Saturday

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team was defeated, 4-0, by Farmingdale State College in a Skyline Conference showdown at Danzi Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss the Golden Eagles slip to 1-3-1 overall on the year and 0-2-1 in Skyline play as the Rams improve to 4-3-0 and 2-0-0.

A total of 24 Golden Eagles made appearances in a match that was tightly contested in the first half. SJC outshot the Rams in the opening period but trailed 1-0 at halftime.

Against the run of play, Michael Lanouette opened the scoring for the Rams in the 39th minute when he beat SJC's Giuseppe Vitale from the right side.

Roberto Alfaro doubled Farmingdale's lead in the 56th minute before Lanouette registered his second of the afternoon three minutes later.

Alfaro beat Vitale in a 1-v-1 situation in the 67th minute to wrap up the match's scoring with his second tally of the contest. 

SJC posted 12 total shots to Farmingdale's 10 and also had the edge in corner kicks (3-2). Vitale was forced to make four saves in his collegiate debut.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday, September 28, when they host SUNY Purchase at Danzi Stadium for a Skyline Conference contest at 7:00 pm.
