Men's Soccer Wins Season Finale, 4-1

West Harrison, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team secured a 4-1 victory over Yeshiva University on Friday in its final contest of the 2021 season. 

Freshman Vincent Mariani tallied twice, including the game-winner, and senior keeper Tyler Flaherty made three saves on three shots in the last collegiate contest of his career.

Mariani opened the scoring in the 14th minute when he capitalized on a turnover by the Yeshiva keeper. The forward doubled SJC's lead in the 39th minute when he scored from inside the box.

Sophomore Justin Gracia scored from the left side in the 60th minute, and freshman Diego Saravia extended the St. Joseph's lead to four goals (4-0) in the 69th minute when he scored off a corner.

Yeshiva's Alejandro Saul scored two minutes before the full-time whistle to bring one back for the hosts (4-1). 

SJC dominated proceedings and outshot the Maccabees 15-8. The Golden Eagles also doubled up Yeshiva in corners (6-3).

The Golden Eagles wrap the season with a 5-8-1 overall mark and a 4-6-1 record in Skyline Conference play. With 13 points, SJC finishes the season in seventh place, two points off a playoff spot. Yeshiva, with 15 points, clinches the final playoff berth.
