Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) athletics department on Thursday released the finalized 2017 schedule for the inaugural men's volleyball team, which is set to play its first-ever game at home vs. Medgar Evers on January 24 at 7:00 PM.

The team, which will play in the NCAA Division III's Skyline Conference, will host a total of seven home dates in its first season including conference tri-matches with Purchase/New Jersey City and St. Joseph's (Brkln)/Sarah Lawrence on March 18 and April 9, respectively.

"The players and us coaches have been dying to get started and now preseason is only couple of weeks away," said head coach Bill Kropp. "The team believes it can compete in our very first season. They're confident and have worked extremely hard this past year to be ready for the season."

After opening the year at home the Golden Eagles head on the road for a trio of dates at York College (1/26), Brooklyn College (2/2) and defending national champion SUNY New Paltz (2/5). SJC then returns home for a pair of 7:00 PM home matches vs. John Jay and Arcadia on February 8 and 10, respectively.

Back on the road for nine-straight games over the next month—with stops at Hunter (2/11), SUNY Poly (2/24) and Alvernia (3/3)—St. Joseph's will host Baruch on March 9 and CCNY on March 14.

On Sunday, March 26 the Golden Eagles head to Union, NJ to face defending Skyline Conference champion Kean University, in addition to Ramapo, in a conference tri-match 2:00 & 4:00 PM.

"We're very excited to get started after planning and recruiting for a year and a half," said assistant coach Tyler Dowd. "We think we have a solid team and expect to be competitive immediately."

The home Skyline tri-match with SJC-Brooklyn and Sarah Lawrence (10:00 AM/2:00 PM) on Sunday, April 9 will be the final matches of the regular season. The Skyline playoffs begin on Tuesday, April 11 and run through Saturday, April 15.
