Men's Volleyball Defeated City College 3-1 on Monday Night

New York, NY| Freshman Kyle Biggers recorded a team-high and matched a season-high 12 kills as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's volleyball team earned a 3-1 victory over non-conference rival CCNY inside Nat Holman Gymnasium on Monday night.

With the win the Golden Eagles improve to 15-9 as the Beavers slide to 7-14.

Biggers hit 58.8% on the night and collected five blocks and an ace. Freshman Will Flohr went for 10 kills and four digs, and fellow teammate Matthew Amberge was credited with 10 kills.
Up 5-4 in the first set, the Golden Eagles sparked a 6-1 run to hold a six-point lead over the hosts (11-5). After back-and-forth action SJC continued to hold an eight-point lead (20-12) before scoring the set's final three points to come out with the 25-14 win.
The second was tight and saw no more than a two-point lead until the Golden Eagles pulled ahead 20-17. The Beavers tied the game once more, 23-23, before closing out the second set with a 25-23 victory.
SJC jumped out to a 12-6 lead before using an 11-1 run to build a 16-point lead (23-7). Moments later a kill by Biggers and an attack error by the beavers gave SJC the 25-8 third-set victory.

The Golden Eagles opened the fourth with a furious 5-0 run, and proceeded to maintain its torrid pace and capped of the game's final two points to clinch the 25-7 set and 3-1 match win.
In a match that saw SJC collect 44 kills the guests held advantages in digs (30-19), aces (4-2), and assists (32-26).
