Track and Field Completes Outdoor Season at the NJAC Championships

Glassboro, NJ| The men's and women's outdoor track and field teams both competed at the NJAC Championships hosted by Rowan College last weekend at the Richard Wackar Stadium in Glassboro, NJ.

Overall, the women's team finished seventh out of nine teams with 19 points and the men scored nine points to finish ninth out of nine schools.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Brian Frejka, Mike O'Shea, Daniel Antonawich, and Anthony Figorito placed sixth with a 45.11 time. They would later compete in the 4x400-meter relay and place a sixth-best time of 3:31.69.

Skyline Cross Country Champion, Erin MacDonell running in the 10,000m started off the scoring as she raced to a 6th place finish with a time of 41.48.07. Not long after Erin made her mark on the competition Jennifer Holownia leaped to an 8th place finish with a mark of 4.83m in the Long Jump, making her the first Long Jumper to score at the NJAC conference.

Gabrielle-Ada Mason, was then able to become the first Woman Pole Vaulter to score at NJACs as she tied her school record with a jump of 3.05m placing 5th.

The second day of competition saw the 4x100m relay composed of Mikayla Kowalevich, Ashley Arquer, and Madelyn Kowalevich joining Jennifer Holownia to a 6th place finish with a time of 53.72. Ashley concluding her collegiate career after being All Conference, multiple scorer at the NJAC competition, and 3time ECAC qualifier over her 4 years.

Jesssica Pierno placed 4th in the Heptathlon with a score of 3363, Jessica was able to win the Shot Put portion of the two-day seven-event competition with a distance of 10.61m just shy of her overall school record but good enough for a Heptathlong Shot Put School Record. She was also able to leap to a Heptathlon School Record of 4.67m in the Long Jump. Continuing a busy weekend Jessica then was able to toss an 8th place finish in the Women's Shot Put with a distance of 10.13m being the top scorer for the women over the weekend.

The conclusion of the meet saw the Women's 4x400m relay composed of Jennifer Holownia, Kelly Roberts(in her final race of her collegiate career), Arian Nunez, and Madelyn Kowalevich place 7th in a time of 4:29.70.

The season continues as Jessica Pierno waits to see if her season best score of 3629 in the Heptathlon will earn her a place at the ECAC Championships on May 16th and 17th at Westfield State University in Westfield Massachusetts. The Heptathlon competition takes the top 15 entries into the meet. Currently, Jessica is ranked 10th in the ECAC best of season list.
