Patchogue, NY| St. Joseph's College (L.I.) Assistant Vice President & Senior Director of Athletics & Recreation Shantey M. Hill announced on Thursday afternoon the appointment of Robert Morris as the new head coach of the institution's men's and women's track and field programs.

"We are excited to have Rob join our Golden Eagle family; he was a record-setting student-athlete and has been a successful coach at both the high school and collegiate levels," remarked Hill. "We look forward to having him here at SJC as we strive to build a strong tradition in both our track and field programs."

Morris, a 2004 graduate of LIU Post, returns to collegiate athletics following a three-year stint at Walt Whitman High School as the boys cross country and track and field coach. Last season, Morris helped lead the boys to a division championship in the pentathlon and high jump, and a fourth-place finish in the pentathlon at New York State Spring Track Championships. Additionally, he helped lead the boys cross country team to a Division and League Championship.

Morris also served as an assistant coach of boys' track and field and teaches seventh and eighth grade at Stimson Middle School in Huntington Station, NY.

"I am looking forward to being a part of the St. Joseph's family in my hometown where my running career started and my coaching career can continue," said Morris. "My vision is to bring the track and field programs to the next level of competition."

During his time at LIU Post, Morris, a two-time NYCAC cross country champion, captained the Pioneers' track and field and cross country squads and served on the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC).  He was a three-time cross country MVP and was named to the 3,000-meter track and field "All-Time List."

Prior to LIU Post, Morris served as a captain on the cross country and track and field teams at Patchogue-Medford High School and was a three-time Suffolk All-County Team selection. He was a cross country state qualifier in 1998 and qualified in the 1600m in track and field in 1999.

Morris is a certified teacher in Secondary English in Florida and New York.  He also holds a USA Track and Field Level II Coaching Certificate.
