Lax Loses Tight Game to Drew, 13-12

Patchogue, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's Golden Eagles (10-4) fell just short of capturing the win in their last non-conference home game of the season, losing 13-12, to Drew University (9-4).

It was a nail biting day for St. Joseph's as points went back and forth for most of the match.  The first goal of the game was posted at 26:00 by Ela Igdeler (Islip, N.Y. / Islip) to give the Golden Eagles some momentum.  The Rangers replied shortly after with a goal at 25:45.

The score continued to rally as SJC's Tricia Barrett(Holbrook, N.Y. / Sachem North) posted the team's second goal at 21:47, only to be tied up at two again about four minutes later.

Tallies went up on both sides of the scoreboard and by half, the Golden Eagles were up 7-6, bringing high energy to the crowd down at Danzi Stadium.

Rallying of the score continued for the entire second half, kicked off by an early goal from Drew at 28:24. It seemed that both teams wouldn't go down without a fight as things got physical heading into the second half as well.

Five yellow cards were distributed in the second half, upping the intensity of the game.  With 6:59 left on the clock, Drew scored the final goal of the match with a man up, leaving the score at 13-12, and then slowed things down, keeping the ball away from the home team.

SJC will compete in their last conference game before playoffs on Saturday, April 25 at Mount Saint Mary at 1 p.m. with first place and the top seed in the Skyline Conference Tournament on the line.
