Women's Lacrosse Falls 14-11 in Skyline Semifinals

Farmingdale, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's lacrosse team saw its 2019 season come to an end with a 14-11 loss to Farmingdale State College in the Skyline Conference semifinals.

The Golden Eagles wrap up the season at 7-7 as the Rams advance to the finals at 8-10.

The two sides were evenly matched in the first half with neither side building a lead larger than two. The home team broke a 5-5 stalemate on a free position shot from Courtney Gendels with less than two minutes on the clock to head into the break leading 6-5.

The Golden Eagles trailed 10-6 a 3-0 run sparked by Diana Johnston inched SJC to within one, 10-9, midway through the second frame. The Rams responded with four unanswered goals to widen the gap to 14-9 with just over five minutes left in the game. SJC's Lauryn Gregson and Nicole Stoppelli converted on free position opportunities down the stretch but could not catch the Rams ultimately falling 14-11.

Stoppelli finished with seven points on a team-best four goals and three assists. The midfielder recorded three ground balls and causes five turnovers.

Gregson and Johnston finished with three goals apiece with the latter recording four draw controls.

Goalkeeper Lindsay Ramos recorded 16 saves with her counterpart Iyana Hudson finishing with 12.
