Women's Tennis Falls Short In Skyline Championship Final

Farmingdale, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's tennis team saw its season come to an end in a hard fought 5-2 defeat to Farmingdale State in the Skyline Conference Championship game on early Sunday afternoon. The Golden Eagles conclude their 2016 season with an 11-4 record on the year as the Rams improve to 14-4 and earn a bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament.

The Rams picked up the game's first point when Priscilla Signore and Quart-ul-ain Rai took down Amanda Post and Victoria Panicola at the no. 1 singles court, 4-8. The Golden Eagles evened up the tally when they dynamic duo of Kerri McMahon and Emily Portal took their set, 8-4, over Tatiana Rosamilia and Michelle Fredericks.  SJC would take the match's first lead as Erika Hesselbirg and Nora Burnett forced a tiebreaker their match, edging out Kayla Reidy and Olivia Stauffer 9-8 (7-2).

Farmingdale tied up the match at two apiece as Signore earned a 0-6, 2-6 victory over post. Rosamilia would then help the Rams take a 3-2 lead with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Panicola. Reidy won her match at fifth singles winning in straight sets (1-6, 2-6) over Burnett.

Fredericks sealed the championship victory at the fourth singles court 2-6, 3-6, over Hesselbirg.
