Indoor Track Begins 2015-16 Campaign at the Bill Ward Invitational

South Huntington, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's and women's indoor track and field team kicked off its 2015-16 season at the Bill Ward Invitational at St. Anthony's HS on Tuesday afternoon.

Junior Ashley Arquer ran program's best of 8.18 in the 60-meter dash, breaking her own record of 8.22, which she set last season.  Arquer finished in eighth-place in the long jump event posting a 4.73.

Junior Cassie Costarelli ran a seventh-place time of 6:15.16 in the mile run. Freshman Jennifer Holownia earned a tenth-place finish in the 400-meter run with a 1:04.97 time.

Junior Jessica Pierno crossed at 2:42.08 in the 800 meter run, which was good for an eighth-place finish.

Meanwhile, for the men's side, freshman Daniel Antonawich earned a fourth place finished posting a 9.86 in the 60-meter hurdle.

Matthew Haughn earned a 12-place finish in the 400-meter run with a 1:00.41 time.

Nick Russo posted a 5.54m which was good for a seventh-place finish in the long jump.

SJC's Alex Becker earned a fifth-place finish (10.52m) in the shot put event. Sophomore Chris Maher and junior Nick DellaPace were individually sixth (9.25m) and 8th (7.37) in the event.

Maher and DellaPace also participated in the weight throw event, with Maher finished fourth with a 10 meter toss, and DellaPace (9.90m) with a fifth-place finish. Becker (9.45m) and Joseph Wetzel(7.92m) both placed sixth and eighth respectively.

The Golden Eagles will return back to the track after the New Year, when they host the St. Joseph's College 2nd Annual Winter Invitational on Saturday, January 16 at St. Anthony's HS. The event will kick-off at 9:30 AM.
