Pierno Earns NJAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week Honors

Pitman, NJ | The New Jersey Athletics  Conference (NJAC) released its weekly awards Monday afternoon, and amongst the winners was junior Jessica Pierno of the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's track and field team who was selected as the Field Athlete of the Week.

Pierno becomes the program's first athlete to win the award since joining the NJAC in 2011. Pierno became the second long jumper in Golden Eagle women's indoor track and field history to break the five meter mark at the Molloy Invitational on Friday, February 12. Her jump was recorded at 5.06 meters, and broke a record that was previously set by Ashley Aquer that same day. Pierno went for a second record-breaking performance in the triple jump, posting a 10.32-meter mark to earn a fourth-place finish. The East Patchogue, NY native also placed eighth in the shot put event with a 9.98-meter toss.
