Women's Volleyball Opens Season with Win over Ramapo

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's volleyball team opened the 2021 season with a 3-1 win over Ramapo College in the Danzi Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles start the season at 1-0 as the Roadrunners move to 0-3.

SJC came out to a 2-0 lead taking both sets one and two by a score of 25-21. Ramapo held off elimination with a 25-18 win in the third set, but the Golden Eagles bounced back with a 25-20 in set four to capture the 3-1 victory.

Senior middle Amanda Goldstein led all players with 13 kills while hitting at a .455 clip. Sophomore Madison Gremli pitched in with double-double 11 kills and a game-best 21 digs. Junior setter Veronica Miessmer dished a match-high 29 assists and sophomore libero April Sexton picked up 15 digs.

Ashley Pichardo and Caleigh Golabek led the Roadrunners with six kills apiece. Setters Alexandra Sacchinelli and Hannah McTighe tossed 15 and nine assists, respectively with libero Emma Moran and Stephanie Ross finishing with 11 digs each.

The Golden Eagles return to play on Saturday, September 11 when the travel to face RIT and Western Connecticut State.
