Women's Volleyball Sweeps SJCBK on Senior Day

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's volleyball team closed out their 2021 home schedule with a 3-0 sweep of St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn in the Danzi Center on Tuesday evening.

The win puts the Golden Eagles at 9-13 on the season and 6-4 in Skyline play. The Bears fall to 5-10 overall, 3-7 Skyline.

After the hosts grabbed a 2-0 lead with closely played 25-23 and 25-20 wins in sets one and two, the Golden Eagles went on to close out the match with a 25-15 win in the final set.

Senior Amanda Goldstein led all players with a season-high 17 kills while hitting at a .607 clip. Freshman Deirdre Carney added seven kills with eight digs. Setter Veronica Miessmer finished with a double-double of 30 assists and 11 digs. Junior Kayla Martin matched Miessmer with 11 digs and libero Kellianne Dempsey recorded 10.

Grace Kane lead the Bears with nine kills with Cristina Morales and Martina Urgo pitching in with six kills apiece. Setter Kaitlyn Intindola tossed 20 assists with Morales finishing with a team-high 16 digs.

The Golden Eagles wrap up their Skyline Conference schedule on Thursday, October 28 when they travel to Sarah Lawrence. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
