Track & Field Soars at Lion’s Invitational

South Huntington, N.Y. - The St. Joseph's College men's and women's track & field team turned in solid performances at Molloy's first annual Lion's Invitational featuring one ECAC qualifying performance by junior Christine Cristobal (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hallow Hills West) who took first in the 800m to break the previous school record with a time of 2:20.56. Cristobal has now qualified for two ECAC events.

The men were led by junior Maxwell James (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) who took second in the 400m running a time of 51.47 and breaking his previous school record.  Freshman Robert Johnson (Mastic Beach, N.Y./William Floyd) took third in the 800m with a time of 2:04.50.

Later, both James and Johnson were joined by junior Michael Hartman (Shirley, N.Y./William Floyd) and freshman Jonathan Villalba (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) in the 1600-meter relay taking fifth with a time of 3:42.99.

The Golden Eagles will be back in action at the NJAC Indoor Championships this Friday beginning at 11 a.m. at the New Balance Track & Field Center in Manhattan.
