Patchogue, NY| Senior Andrea Iavarone dropped in a game-high 25 points, but the St. Joseph's College women's basketball team came up short, 68-45, against Trinity College Saturday afternoon.
The non-conference matchup moves SJC to 4-10 on the season and the Bantams improve to 13-5.
Iavarone was 10-for-18 from the field and her nine rebounds were also a game-high. Senior Jennifer Gubell pitched in with seven points and Sophomore Juliana Cintron-Leonardo grabbed eight boards. Junior N'Dea Maddox's seven assists matched a season-best.
Trinity was led by a pair of 12-point and six rebound performances by Courtney Erickson and Peace Kabari. Karabi added three assists, three steals, and a block.
The Golden Eagles kept pace with the Bantams trading baskets in the early minutes, but after a three-minute scoring drought, Trinity went on a 14-5 run to close out the first quarter leading 24-12. SJC was outscored 17-7 in the second and trailed 41-19 at the break.
The third quarter saw much of the same as the Bantams held the Golden Eagles to just six points to take a 58-25 advantage into the final frame. St. Joseph's showed some life in the fourth quarter with a 20-point performance, but it wasn't enough and Trinity cruised to a 68-45 win.
Trinity finished shooting 42.9% from the field with the home team shooting 30.2%.
The Golden Eagles return to the Danzi Center Monday, January 21 when they host Farmingdale College at 7:00 pm.
