Women's Lacrosse Falls to Manhattanville in Regular Season Finale

Purchase, NY| The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's lacrosse team suffered a 15-13 Skyline Conference loss at the hands of Manhattanville College on the road on Wednesday evening.

The Golden Eagles wrap up the regular season at 4-7 overall with a 3-4 record in conference play. The Valiants improve to 4-8 overall and even out at 3-3 Skyline.

SJLI's Melissa Newman led all players with 12 points on six goals and three assists. Jamie Trowbridge added three goals with a team-best six draw controls and five caused turnovers while collecting four ground balls.

Emily O'Mara also finished with three goals and a team-high six ground balls. Alexandra Ehrhart led the SJLI defense with five ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Manhattanville was led by a six-goal performance by Kerry Carr who also recorded nine draw controls and four caused turnovers. Maura Kelly added four goals and Lara Keenan pitched in with three goals.

The Golden Eagles trailed by one, 4-3, after the first quarter, but the visitors went on to shut out Manhattanville 4-0 in the second frame to take a 7-4 lead into the break.

Both sides found the back of the net four times in the third before Manhattanville exploded for seven goals in the final quarter while holding St. Joseph's to just two to complete the 15-13 come from behind victory.

The Valiants held a 19-11 advantage at the draw and outshot the Golden Eagles 23-14 in the second half.

SJLI goalie Jillian Hummel finished the night with 15 saves with M'Ville's Brittney Sirota recording 10.
