2018 Women's Soccer Preview

Patchogue, NY| In his second season leading the St. Joseph's College women's soccer team, head coach Rafael Morais looks to bring the Golden Eagles back to the Skyline Conference Tournament in the 2018 season. The Golden Eagles, who finished 11-7-1 in 2017, are slated fourth in the Preseason Poll as voted on by conference coaches.

After graduating four from last year's team including First-Team All-Conference selection Kristi Carroll, who finished second on the team with nine goals and 22 points, Coach Morais will lean on a group of 12 returners. Among the returners are All-Conference forwards Christina Gagliardi and Carly Credidio. The duo combined for 28 goals and eight assists. Also coming back to lead the back line are senior captains Samantha Caruso and Luciana Timpone who along with goalkeeper Juliana Cintron-Leonardo held opponents to a 2.85 goals against average and seven shutouts a season ago.

Seven new faces join the squad this year highlighted by junior Claire Brady. A member of the 2015 Skyline Championship team, Brady returns bringing maturity and experience to the midfield. Also looking to make an immediate impact are Megan O'Neill and Savannah McMaster. The pair of freshmen will contribute youth and speed to both the midfield and defensive end.

The Golden Eagles open its 2018 campaign Friday, August 31st when they host New York University at Danzi Stadium at 7:00 pm.
