Skakandi Named Skyline Rookie of the Week, Basile and Signor on Honor Rolls

New York, NY| The Skyline Conference released its weekly awards on Tuesday morning and amongst the winners was freshman Meghan Skakandi of the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team who was named Women's Swimming Rookie of the Week.

Additionally, senior Frank Basile and sophomore Alyssa Signor appeared on the Men's and Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Rolls, respectively.

Meghan Skakandi (Fr.) – Women's Swimming Rookie of the Week
Skakandi picked up a pair of victories in the 1000-yard free (12:02.30) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.69) in the swimming team's triumphant double-duel on Friday evening. Additionally, the freshman was a part of the 200-yard free relay team that placed second (1:56.68).

Frank Basile (Sr.) – Men's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll
The guard averaged 29.0 points- and 8.5 rebounds-per-game in two games for the Golden Eagles last week. In an 85-68 victory at York on Nov. 8, Basile posted his first double-double of the season with a 26-point, 10-rebound performance. The senior went on to drop a game-high 32 points (12-for-18 FG) in a loss to St. Elizabeth on Nov. 15.

Alyssa Signor (So.) – Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll
Signor led the Golden Eagles with 18.5 points-per-game in SJC's opening week. The sophomore had a game-high 25 points on 10-for-25 shooting from the field with seven rebounds in a loss at Baruch College on Nov. 14 and collected 12 points and six boards in a loss to John Jay on Nov. 16.
