Degni Earns Top Weekly Awards; Eight Receive Honor Roll Recognition

New York, NY| Eight Golden Eagles secured Skyline Conference Weekly recognition with senior Marissa Degni earning top honors when the conference released its weekly awards on Wednesday morning.

Additionally, juniors Diego Saravia and Daniel Dacos (men's soccer), sophomore Michaela Barressi (women's soccer), senior Madison Gremli and junior Sarah Montefusco (women's volleyball), junior Madison DiPalo (women's tennis), and Matt Lopez and Ryan Steinberg (men's cross country) all received Weekly Honor Roll recognition in their respective sports. 

Marissa Degni - Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

Degni was SJLI's top finisher at the NJIT Highlander Challenge and placed 12th overall out of 220 finishers with a time of 19:29.8.

Dan Dacos - Men's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll

Dacos led a backline that allowed one goal in two games on the week while playing all 180 minutes. The defender held Mt. St. Mary scoreless in a 1-0 victory for the Golden Eagles. The junior allowed one goal in a, 1-1 tie with Manhattanville.

Diego Saravia - Men's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll

Saravia led the Golden Eagles attack on the week totaling nine shots with six shots on goal. The junior scored the game-tying goal in a draw against Manhattanville.

Michaela Baressi - Women's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll

Barressi led a backline that allowed just one goal in one match on the week. Played all 90 minutes in the lone matchup.

Madison Gremli - Women's Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll

Gremli led the Golden Eagles with 36 kills averaging just over five kills per set with a .313 hitting percentage over a pair of matches. The senior added 22 digs averaging 3.14 digs per set. The outside hitter Finished with 18 kills in each match this week adding 14 digs against CMSV and eight against Farmingdale.

Sarah Montefusco - Women's Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll

Montefusco finished with a team-best 34 digs averaging 4.86 digs per set. The junior secured 51 total receptions while adding nine assists. The defensive specialist picked up 18 digs against CMSV before turning in 16 digs against Farmingdale.

Madison DiPalo - Women's Tennis Weekly Honor Roll 

DiPalo battled to a victory #1 singles (6-3, 6-1) against Pratt. 

Matt Lopez - Men's Cross Country Weekly Honor Roll

Lopez was SJLI's top finisher and turned in a time of 25:36.5 for an overall third-place finish out of 234 finishers.

Ryan Steinberg - Men's Cross Country Weekly Honor Roll

Freshman Ryan Steinberg finished 33rd overall in the 8k race with a time of 27:25.2.
