Montefusco Named Skyline Libero of the Week; Eight Golden Eagles Land on Honor Rolls

New York, NY| Seven Golden Eagles received Skyline Conference Weekly recognition with junior Sarah Montefusco of the women's volleyball team earning top honors when the conference released its weekly awards on Wednesday morning.

Additionally, seniors Madison Gremli (women's volleyball), Chris Veintimilla (men's soccer), juniors Vicent Mariani (men's soccer), Brooke Esposito (women's soccer), sophomore Michaela Barressi (women's soccer), and freshman Brandon Flaherty (men's soccer), Alexis Pasciuta (women's soccer), and Nina Vanderhoof (women's volleyball) were all named to the Weekly Honor Roll in their respective sports.

Sarah Montefusco (Jr.) - Women's Volleyball Libero of the Week

Montefusco led the Golden Eagles with 53 digs in a 3-0 week for the Golden Eagles, averaging 4.42 digs per set. The libero recorded 58 service receptions and finished with 19 digs against Sarah Lawrence before turning in 20 digs against Pratt.

Madison Gremli (Sr.) - Women's Volleyball Honor Roll

Gremli led the Golden Eagles this week with 51 kills, averaging 4.25 kills per set. The outside hitter added 45 digs, averaging 3.75 digs per set with nine service aces and three total blocks. She recorded a double-double of 17 kills and 13 digs in a 3-1 win over Sarah Lawrence before recording a career-high 25 digs and matching a career-best 21 kills in a five-set win over Pratt.

Nina Vanderhoof (Fr.) - Women's Volleyball Honor Roll

Vanderhoof finished the week with 29 kills, averaging 2.42 kills per set while adding a team-best nine blocks. The middle hitter recorded 10 kills and four blocks in the 3-1 win over Sarah Lawrence and finished with 11 kills and four blocks in a non-conference win over Pratt

Brooke Esposito (Jr.) - Women's Soccer Honor Roll

Esposito led the Golden Eagles with five assists in three games on the week. She recorded three assists in a 10-0 shutout win over Yeshiva, breaking the SJLI women's soccer career assists record. She added one assist in a 3-2 win over MSMC and assisted the lone goal in SJLI's matchup with Manhattanville.

Michaela Barressi (So.) - Women's Soccer Honor Roll

Barressi led the Golden Eagles with 223 minutes played starting all three matches on the week. The sophomore guided a backline that finished the week with a record of 2-1. 

Alexis Pasciuta (Fr.) - Women's Soccer Honor Roll

Pasciuta made an appearance in all three games on the week while starting in just one. The forward recorded two goals in a 10-0 victory over Yeshiva. The freshman also placed tied for second on the team with nine shots. 

Chris Ventimilla (Sr.) - Men's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll

Ventimilla led a backline that held St. Joseph's Brooklyn to no goals in a 2-0 victory for the Golden Eagles. He logged 102 minutes across two matches played, registering one shot 

Vincent Mariani (Jr.) - Men's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll

Mariani led the Golden Eagles with four points on the week on two goals in a 2-0 victory over SJBK.

Brandon Flaherty (Fr.) Men's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll

Flaherty logged 56 minutes holding the Bears scoreless in a 2-0 victory over St. Joseph's Brooklyn on Sunday.
