Men’s Soccer Falls at Western Conn.

Danbury, CT| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team dropped a non-conference road contest, 5-1, to Western Conn. State on Tuesday evening.

The loss sends the Golden Eagles to 0-2 on the year as the Colonials improve to 1-1.

Senior Justin Busto tallied SJC"s only goal of the evening in the 30th minute. Sophomore Tyler Flaherty got the start in goal and made eight saves on 13 shots.

Western Conn. scored early and often and carried a 2-1 lead into halftime thanks to seventh- and 10th-minute goals.

Chauncey Allers' second mark of the contest came in the 49th minute (3-1) and goals off the feet of Barion Richeme (4-1) and Grimaldo Desousa-Fiho (5-1) in the 65th and 69th minutes, respectively, capped off the evening's scoring.

SJC generated only seven shots to the Colonials' 26 and was also awarded fewer corner kicks (9-2).

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, September 8 when they host Manhattanville College for the opening match of the annual SJC Invitational Tournament at 12:00 pm.
